Kenseth has another opportunity to move up with Michigan race
DEARBORN, Mich. - Matt Kenseth of Cambridge will try to move up this weekend in a very tight race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series lead. Kenseth is in third place in the season standings, just two points behind Jimmie Johnson and one behind second-place Greg Biffle.
The Sprint Cup drivers are in Michigan for Sunday's running of the Pure Michigan-400. Qualifying was set for late this afternoon. Paul Menard, who's 16th in the Sprint Cup standings, is also entered along with Travis Kvapil of Janesville.
The Camping World Truck Series' drivers are also at the Michigan International Speedway for the VFW-200 tomorrow. Johnny Sauter of Necedah placed second in a practice run with a speed of 183-point-777 miles-an-hour.
The Nationwide Series' drivers are in Montreal, Canada for the NAPA Auto Parts-200 tomorrow. Beloit-born Danica Patrick was seventh in her first practice run. She's 11th in the standings.
