Kenseth winds up fifth in Sprint Cup
HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Matt Kenseth of Cambridge ended up fifth for the year in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series. He held steady in the standings after placing ninth in yesterday's season finale, the Ford-400 near Miami.
Paul Menard of Eau Claire finished 23rd in the point standings, after taking 19th in the final event. Travis Kvapil of Janesville placed 34th yesterday, and he dropped one place for the year to 33rd. Jimmie Johnson won his fifth straight title in NASCAR's top circuit.
In the Nationwide Series, Menard ended in fifth place for the season after this weekend's finale. Beloit-born Danica Patrick placed 43rd after competing in 13-of-35 races in her NASCAR debut. Kyle Busch's domination of the Nationwide Series continues. Busch won for the 13th time in 29 races, extending his own record, and holding off Kevin Harvick to win Saturday's Ford 300. The clinched the owners' title for Joe Gibbs Racing. Busch goes for the weekend sweep in today's Sprint Cup race. Wisconsin driver Menard finished 9th and Beloit-native Danica Patrick came in 19th.
Johnny Sauter of Necedah placed third in the Camping World Truck Series standings.
