Knee replacement gone bad sidelines Hager City man

HAGER CITY--Instead of having two replacement knees, Mike "Schmitty" Schmidt of Hager City is coping with a deteriorated one and without the other one.

Schmidt's ability to make a living has thus been compromised, so his friends--The Friends of Schmitty Committee--are organizing a benefit for him on Saturday, April 27, at 4 p.m. at The Bluffs Bar and Grill. A bucket raffle, bake sale, several games of chance and a "spin-to-win wheel" will be featured. A grilled chicken dinner at a price of $8 will also be offered, along with raffle tickets at $5 each or eight for $20, giving holders the opportunity to win a $200 Red Wing Shoe gift certificate or a 42-inch flat-screen television.
