Krutke is a 14-year veteran of the Prescott Police Department where he presently serves as a patrol sergeant. He previously served in several other communities in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was once chief of police in Fairchild in Eau Claire County and chief of police in Taylor in Jackson County.

"We are pleased to promote Sergeant Krutke as our new chief," said William Fetzner, the commission chair.

Krutke will be sworn in during a ceremony at the City Council meeting on Monday, February 10, which will be his first day in office.

Fetzner said the terms and conditions of Krutke's employment have not yet been negotiated.

Krutke will succed Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko, who is retiring after seven-and-one-half years in Prescott and 29 years with the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.
