La Crosse man arrested for murder at Kwik Trip
LA CROSSE - The La Crosse man suspected of killing another man at a convenience store is behind bars. Police announced the arrest of 25-year-old Mitrel Anderson late this morning.
They did not say when or where he was picked up. Police promised to say more at a 4 p.m. news conference. Officials said Anderson apparently left the area after he allegedly stabbed 24-year-old Demario Lee of Rockford, Illinois with a so-called "edged weapon." Police said it occurred early yesterday morning at a Kwik Trip in downtown La Crosse. Lee's family said he visited La Crosse to see relatives on Saturday, and was due back home in Rockford yesterday.
This morning, prosecutors filed a charge of first-degree intentional homicide, along with an arrest warrant. If he was picked up outside Wisconsin, he would have to be extradited to La Crosse. There was no immediate word on that possibility. The FBI and state investigators helped local officers with the case.
