MADISON - There's reason why Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln's wrestling program is one of the best around, not just in Wisconsin but in the nation as well.

It's because they produce good individual wrestlers like Zak Benitz, who handed Hudson's Nick Larson a 3-1 semifinal loss at 152 pounds in the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament Friday evening at the Kohl Center.

Benitz scored a takedown in the first period but Larson scored and escape in the second and trailed just 2-1 heading into the third period. Benitz scored an escape to start the period. Larson tried as hard as he could to get a takedown for the tie but was unable to.

Larson will compete in the placeing matches Saturday where he could finish anywhere from third to sixth.
