At least 50 wolves taken during first weekend of state wolf hunt

ST. PAUL -- Hunters have taken 50 wolves during the early days of Minnesota's first-ever wolf hunting season.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports 20 were killed in the state's Northwest Zone, 22 in the Northeast Zone and eight in the East Central Zone, which is due to close tonight. Thirty-six-hundred wolf hunting licenses were issued by the state and the early wolf season ends in two weeks.
