Letter: Negating restrictions on campaign financing concerns her
TO THE EDITOR: Continuing the regressive legacy of the Bush administration, America now has such a right wing Supreme Court that a century of judicial reforms to constrain the power of wealth, influence and big business has been swept away by the decision handed down that negates restrictions on campaign financing.
Now, corporations will have unlimited ability to buy political favors and politicians. The campaign contributions of individuals and small groups will likely be meaningless. Increasingly, the admonition of Dwight Eisenhower concerning the danger of an unbridled Military, Industrial, Congressional Complex is being realized.
Without a ground swell at the grass roots, I suspect we the people will suffer increasing dampers on our rights and freedoms. At this moment, we are witnessing the turning point for "democracy."
