Letters: Teachers sincerely appreciate support from community
TO THE EDITOR:
We live in an amazing community.
Since early April, the sixth grade students at Ellsworth Middle School have been a part of a unique learning experience. The students embarked on a journey to brainstorm, create and market an original invention.
The project culminated in an Inventors' Fair. This process tested the students' creativity, critical thinking skills, interpersonal communication skills and ability to adapt.
We are very proud of all of the effort and ability the students demonstrated.
However, it would not have been possible without the effort of many people. These people represent our community in many ways. It was amazing to see how committed our entire community is to our children.
The school administration led the way by encouraging the project. The Ellsworth Community School District Foundation provided a grant for students to use as "start-up" money for the project. As you would expect, we couldn't have done this without the support of the parents.
Finally, over 30 adults gave of their time to come into the school and volunteer. This group of caring adults consisted of parents, grandparents and community members.
We sincerely commend everyone for supporting the students in our community.
