Lions fishing contest for kids
The Ellsworth Lions Club will hold its fishing contest 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Nugget Lake Park.
The contest is for children 16 and under. Every child who attends will get a prize. Trophies will be awarded in three categories: largest crappie, largest sunfish and smallest fish.
The contest entrance fee is $5 per child. Tickets can be purchased from any Lion or at the park the day of the contest. There is also a park entry fee.
Children should bring their own fishing equipment and must be accompanied by an adult. Fishing may be from shore, off the dock or from a boat. The park has boats for rent.
Ticket holders will be eligible for a drawing for the grand prize of a 14 ½ foot Winona canoe. The ticket holder doesn't have to be present to win. The canoe is donated in by the family of Sharon (Huppert) Hines in her memory. There will also be drawings for five other prizes.
The Ellsworth Funsters will assist this year, and they will have games with prizes. The clowns might be there.
Food - including bratwursts, hot dogs, chips, candy bars and pop - will be available for purchase.
