The student-athletes were honored at WSAW's 18th Annual Awards Banquet back on Feb. 2 at the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel.

The Award of Excellence recipients are female high school seniors who have maintained a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and earned a letter in at least one varsity girls sport.

Place has participated in cross country, basketball, softball and track and field while Boleen is a volleyball and softball player. Wentlandt played volleyball, basketball and softball. The WSAW Annual Awards Banquet is the only event in Wisconsin recognized as a Community Action Program by the Women's Sports Foundation and is designated by the Foundation as the state's official celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

WSAW staged its first Annual Awards Banquet in February of 1991. To date, nearly 3,750 student-athletes from all over Wisconsin have been honored and recognized as recipients of the WSAW Award of Excellence. In addition, the Annual Awards Banquet also features the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual who has contributed in an outstanding way to benefit girls and women in sports in Wisconsin.

Founded in 1980, WSAW is an internationally recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing opportunities for girls and women who choose to participate in sports.

A complete list of Award of Excellence recipients can be viewed at the WSAW website www.wsaw.org.
