Local man 'fair' after car crash

RIVER FALLS--A 23-year-old Ellsworth man is in fair condition due to injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident 2 a.m. Friday at Hwy. 29 and 850th Street in the Town of River Falls.

Erik Mory was the passenger in the vehicle driven by 20-year-old Joshua E. Edwards of Turtle Lake. Edwards was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 29, when he failed to negotiate a curve and, as a result, the vehicle entered the northbound ditch. He lost control of it coming back onto the highway and ended up sliding approximately 200 feet on its roof.

Mory sustained injuries when his hand became trapped under the roofline of the vehicle. He was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul by Lifelink and was listed in fair condition by representatives there Friday afternoon.

Edwards was arrested at the scene for an operating while intoxicated. He was transferred to Regions by River Falls Ambulance with undetermined injuries and was discharged by Friday afternoon.

The accident remained under investigation by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department late last week.
