Local staff added to Always Pure Salon

For the past two years, Crystal Hines and Jenny Voelker have been convincing Jamie Melstrom-Freese to get back into the salon industry and come work at Always Pure Salon in Ellsworth. Hines, the owner of Always Pure, and Melstrom-Freese were former co-workers at Studio Salon. The convincing worked, as Melstrom-Freese’s first day was Aug. 6.
The daughter of Steve and Sally Melstrom of Ellsworth, she has called Ellsworth home most of her life. She is excited about working with the creative crew at Always Pure and is happy it is located close to home.
“I’m hoping to reconnect with my clientele from A Cut Above and Studio Salon,” she said. “I had an amazing clientele there and leaving the salon was an extremely hard decision for me. But I didn’t want my babies (Nash, now age six, and Landry, age three) to be in full-time daycare. I’m more of a hands-on type of mom. It’s the right time to come back, though, and it’s incredibly great to be back.”
Having kept up with the industry training, trends and licensing requirements, Melstrom-Freese has found the updated coloring options as her favorite salon specialty, as well as up do’s and extension implementation. When the salon hosts clientele for prom or weddings, she states, “We really try to make those fun and memorable appointments.” Haircuts, waxing, pedicures and manicures are also serviced by Melstrom-Freese at Always Pure.
Melstrom-Freese isn’t the only local addition, as Brooke Hines joined as a massage therapist in August as well. Hines graduated from Ellsworth last year and wanted to pursue either a chiropractic degree or massage therapist license. She chose the latter. Daughter of Tim Hines, Ellsworth, and Lisa Bauer, Arkansaw, she earned her license at WITC in New Richmond.
“It was intense, hands-on training and learning the techniques,” she said. Knowing the secrets of Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and stones, to name a few, Hines, a former tennis and basketball player, knows all too well how massage therapy is important to a person’s overall health.
“It is used to not only prevent injuries, but also can be used to help heal as well,” she said. Massage therapy also helps relieve muscle tension, the major cause of back pain and injuries.
“Every person is different, by my goal would be to get the client from one massage to another without any pain,” she said.
