The Ellsworth wrestling team got a send-off from the community Friday morning before departing for Madison to participate in the WIAA State Team Championship.

First, was a pep rally at the high school gymnasium and then a swing in front of Hillcrest Elementary where students there got to have their say and wish good luck. The final stop was at East End Park where parents got to say their good lucks.

The Panthers (18-3 overall) will wrestle Evansville/Albany in the Division 2 semifinals 10 a.m., Saturday at the UW-Fieldhouse. The winner will take on the winner of Wittenberg/Birnamwood and Pewaukee match-up for the state championship 3 p.m. 

Ellsworth is back for the ninth straight year and 13th time overall. The Panthers have won five state titles, capturing firsts in 1985, 2000, 2007, 2009 and 2011.
