Maiden Rock Summerfest set for Saturday
MAIDEN ROCK--Maiden Rock will hold its annual Summerfest from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. this Saturday, sponsored by the Maiden Rock Area Community Association (MRACA).
The schedule begins with tours of the Sand Mine from 9 a.m.-noon.
At 11 a.m., activities begin in the village park, including kids' games, moonwalk and the Titanic Slide, along with the Sports Combo Unit--both inflatables. Other fun games will include Dart Balloons, Limbo, Polka Dot Penny Pitch, Hit the Milk Bottles and Picture Concentration. New games are Ring Around the Chopstick and Topple the Tower. The Maiden Rock Rockets 4-H Club plans the games.
Food will consist of Harmon BBQ Chicken, hot dogs, ice cream and kettle korn. In addition, there will be a silent auction and Maiden Rock Collectible Pottery.
The grand parade starts at 2 p.m. and will run south along Hwy. 35. Events afterward shift to the Park Pavilion, where the following bands will take the stage: "Patchouli" at 3 p.m., "The Fly-Rite Girls" at 4:30 p.m. and "The Rockin' Relics" at 6 p.m.
The day concludes with a fireworks display at dark. This is a change from previous Summerfests, as the fireworks were usually on the Fourth of July.
The Ellsworth Fire Department Beer Tent will be open all day and night. Summerfest buttons can be purchased at the following local businesses: Ole's Bar, Lakeside Bar, Park Service Gas, Old Man River Pizza Pub, Swan Song Gallery and MRACA.
