Malone Elementary sends two DI teams to Global Finals
PRESCOTT--Malone Elementary School of Prescott sent four teams to the Destination Imagination (DI) state competition on April 12 in Stevens Point.
They had earned the privilege of representing Malone at state competition by placing first or second in their regional competition on March 15. One Malone team competed in the Tension Builds category, where they needed to build a structure that was tested against two forces at the same time. Another team competed in Pandemonium, where they had to create an improvisational skit including a character from the past and present.
The other two teams competed in the Going to Extremes challenge, where they learned about an extreme environment that exists and had a character attempt to adapt to those conditions during their skit.
All of the teams were excited to go on to the state competition. They commented about the stiff competition at the state level and they represented Prescott well!
This year, Malone had two teams qualify for the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. They are the P Town Power Builders consisting of Max Lamb, Trent Koukal, Erin Boatman, Gabbi Gujer, Sophie Lebakken, Will Simkins and Brady Lenz, and The Crazy Flum-Dumpgins consisting of Shay Stenroos, Elsie Dempsey-Rice, Piper Petroske, Grace Gale, Savannah Fiedler and Morgan Lundeen.
The Crazy Flum-Dumpgins also placed first in their instant challenge. This is only the second time a team from Malone has gone to Global Finals.
The two teams are doing many fundraising activities to fund their way to Knoxville. People will find them selling cookies and candy bars at the Flood Run this Saturday in Prescott. They are also selling Papa Murphy’s coupon cards at various events. They will have a hat day and sell candy bars at school.
