Malone students compete in speaking contest
PRESCOTT--Seventeen students from Malone Elementary School of Prescott’s fifth grade have been busy since the middle of December preparing for the Pierce County Conservation and Environmental Awareness Speaking Contest.
The students researched environmental concerns related to Pierce County, Prescott or Wisconsin. They then spent time gathering information and learning about public speaking. The team had a speak-a-thon to see which four students would represent Malone at the contest.
Malone’s representatives who competed in the Elementary Division (Grades 5-6) on Feb. 3 in Ellsworth at the Pierce County Annex were: Anna Wolf (first in Malone Speak-a-thon), Sophie Tibayan (second), Maddie Tibayan (third), and Macy Cleasby (fourth). Students from Malone, as well as other area schools, presented at the county contest. All four students made Malone very proud with their fine presentations that afternoon!
Officials are especially proud of Maddie Tibayan who placed third, and Sophie Tibayan, who placed second, in the county contest!
The 17 students who worked so hard to be a part of this team were: Halle Anger, Tori Benck, Macy Cleasby, Grace Carlson, Emma Fiedler, Austin Fox, Marissa Jansen, Isabella Lenz, Walker Lenz, Mason Malm, Brandon Pederson, Kylee Schommer, William Taylor, Madeleine Tibayan, Sophia Tibayan, Jessica Urman and Anna Wolf.
This opportunity was made possible through Malone’s extension program. Mrs. Kelly Johnson was the coach, with help from the students’ parents and classroom teachers.
Congratulations to the Pierce County Speaking Contest Team from Malone Elementary School for a job well done!
