Man convinces St. Cloud hospital he's Pink Floyd's David Gilmour
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - A Minnesota man checked into a St. Cloud Hospital, claiming to be Pink Floyd singer-guitarist David Gilmour, and even signed autographs for hospital staff.
Fifty-three-year-old Phillip Schaeffer of Monticello was treated at St. Cloud Hospital nearly two weeks ago, racking up a bill of about $100,000, but he checked in under the name of David Gilmour. He was treated even though he didn't have health insurance, and released. The next day, though, hospital security staff reviewed surveillance footage and determined the patient was not the 67-year-old British rocker.
Schaeffer came back to the hospital four days later, security called police, and he was arrested. He will likely be charged with theft by swindle.
