The St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra will present "All Tchaikovsky" featuring March Slav, Capriccio Italian, and Variations on a Rococo Theme with cellist Karl Brusen at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8 at Abbott Concert Hall on campus.

The orchestra presents six concerts annually.

Directed by Dr. Kristin Tjornehoj, members are from Wisconsin and Minnesota and rehearse Monday evenings from September to May.

The final spring concert is April 26 and features Minnesota Orchestra/Minnesota Youth Symphony leader Manny Laureano on trumpet.

The UWRF Symphony Band and the University Band will present a concert on Thursday, March 11.

Directors Dr. Kristin Tjornehoj and Dr. Gary Bird will lead musicians in music by Edward Gregson, Sousa, and Shelley Hansen.

The Symphony Band is made up of undergraduate students at UW-RF while the University Band attracts community members and non-music majors.Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 seniors, $2 students for both concerts.

Upcoming events for the ensembles include April 12 (With the U.S. Air Force Chamber Winds), April 29 (Featuring music of 43rd commissioned composer Michael Colgrass), and May 6 (Spring Fling!).

Dr. Tjornehoj offers a summer community band for anyone interested beginning Thursday, June 17. Rehearsals will be held at Hudson Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays with concerts slated for the third and fourth weeks of July in River Falls, Hudson, New Richmond, and Glenwood City.
