Marcum's shutout extends Brewers' lead to nine games
HOUSTON - Sean Marcum handcuffed the Houston Astros on one hit through seven innings as Milwaukee won by a 4-0 shutout.
Marcum picked up his 12th win. He's allowed only four earned runs in his last five starts as the Brewers have forged to a nine and a half game lead in the NL Central Division. St. Louis dropped a 3-2 decision to Cincinnati in 10 innings Sunday. Ryan Braun had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two of the Brewers' four runs. Corey Hart extended his hitting streak to 16 games in a row.
Milwaukee begins a three-game series with St. Louis today. Milwaukee now has a record of 69-0 when leading after eight innings.
