Marie Pechacek, 92
Marie Helen Pechacek, 92, longtime resident of Ellsworth, Wis., died Sunday, Aug. 11, at Comforts of Home, River Falls, Wis.
Marie Helen Guest was born March 26, 1921, one of 11 children born to Grant and Catherine (Wagner) Guest.
Marie married Gerald Claire Pechacek Aug. 25, 1941, and they were married for 41 years. Gerald passed Jan. 14, 2003, at 82 years old.
Marie was born into a farming family, and she lived her entire life in Pierce County. Marie and Gerry were married 1 year and a daughter, Mary, was born. In December, Gerald was called up for WWII; he was an Army Air Force trucker for 3-1/2 years, being discharged in February 1946. Having lived on a farm in Beldenville for many years, they moved to River Falls and lived there for 30 years. When Gerald retired, they traveled around the U.S. in a RV for 18 years visiting friends and relatives. Marie was a "Prayer Warrior" for 50 years at the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church. She loved to dance, cook, and have a spotlessly clean house; she was known for baking delicious apple crisps, cinnamon rolls, and breads.
Marie is survived by three children: Mary Ellen Drier, Rosemount, Minn.; Gerald E. (Shelly) Pechacek, St. Helens, Ore.; David (Linda) Pechacek, West Bend, Wis.; six granddaughters: Carla Newman, Donna Fager, Dawn Bynon, Hope Wahl, Rachel and Kelly Pechacek; 10 great-grandchildren: Annika, Gaven, Matthew, Daniel and Sam; Elyssa, MacKenzie and Aurora; Justin and Molly; two sisters: Mary (Sheldon) Hilden, River Falls; Dorothy (Roydie) Johnson, Ellsworth.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Catherine Guest; brothers and sisters Estella (Paul) Bartlett, Julia (Harold) Johnson, Frank Guest, William Guest, George Guest, Anna Mae (Clifford) Anderson, Florence (Floyd) Fisher, and John Henry Guest.
Funeral services for Marie will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Pastor Amy Kosari will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for 1 hour before the service on Wednesday.
