Mary Theresa Hageman, 60
Mary Theresa Hageman, of Big Lake, Minn., age 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, in
RiverCenter hospice care, Monticello, Minn.
Born Dec. 3, 1952, in Red Wing, Minn., the daughter of August Hageman and Jeanette (Dunn) Hageman, Mary grew up in Ellsworth. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1970, and University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1976, with degrees in biology, history and German. She held an archival position at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, Madison, and was later awarded a scholarship from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, for computer programming.
In 1981, Mary moved to Control Data, Corp., Minneapolis, Minn., as an Associate Programmer Analyst. Siemens Group purchased the company in 1993, and she progressed to Network Analyst and Sr. Software Engineer. She loved her career, and continued to work until she could no longer perform her duties.
She married Ralph Paul Lueck on Dec. 30, 1996. In their time together, they enjoyed canoeing rivers throughout the United States, logging thousands of miles. Mary and her friend, Gini Gartman, had the goal of paddling the length of the Mississippi River. In yearly segments from Lake Itasca, they began that venture and completed it until just above Memphis, Tenn., when Mary's illness ended their endeavor.
Mary is survived by her Mother, Jeanette C. Falteisek; sister, Catherine Hageman (Edward) Brickner; nieces, Jeanette S. Brickner and Catherine Alexandra Brickner; Mother-in-law, Alice Lueck; sisters-in-law, Carolynn Loveless (Steve Ebert), Christine (Jim) Scannell; brother-in-law, Tom Lueck.
Preceded by the unexpected death of her husband on July 24, 2013; and by her father August John Hageman, Jr.
There will be an Informal Commemoration of Life gathering held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Glen Park Indoor Shelter, Park St. and Glen Park Rd., River Falls, Wis.
