CEDAR RAPIDS, Ia.  --  Baseball fans in Cedar Rapids, Iowa get a special treat tonight when Twins star Joe Mauer makes his return to the field by playing for the Twins' Class A affiliate there.

Mauer has been on the disabled list since July 2nd and figures to ease his way back into the lineup.  He says the plan is for him to get some at-bats, maybe designated hitter, then play some first base the next night -- working his way back to play nine innings.

In addition to Mauer playing tonight, Twins pitcher Ricky Nolasco will start the game for Cedar Rapids.  Nolasco is returning from a sore elbow and will throw a limited number of pitches in Iowa this evening.  Incidently, Joe Mauer's brother Jake manages the Cedar Rapids team.
