Menomonie man dies from injuries sustained in car accident
A 27-year-old Menomonie man died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a car accident on July 3.
According to the State Patrol, Joshua Weyker was in the front passenger seat of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala driven by his wife, Heidi, 22. The pair were westbound on Interstate 94 at mile marker 36.5 in Dunn County near Knapp. Around 11:50 a.m., Heidi veered onto the left roadway shoulder and subsequently rolled over on the roadway. Joshua was not wearing his seatbelt. He was ejected from the car and partially pinned under the car when State Troopers arrived. He sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. Heidi was wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries.
Heidi was cited for operating a motor vehicle while suspended and also for no vehicle insurance.
The State Patrol reports both I-94 westbound lanes were blocked at the crash location for 90 minutes while personnel freed Joshua from under the car and clear the scene.
