MINNESOTA NEWS ROUND-UP: Fargo officer injured when cow charges him
FARGO, N.D. -- It sounds like a scene straight out of the movie: A Fargo officer was hurt in an altercation with a cow this week on I-94.
It happened after the animal was involved in a car crash. When a Cass County deputy arrived to help, the cow charged and pushed him to the ground. The officer got back on his feet just as the cow was charging a second time shot the animal to avoid being attacked again. The deputy is expected to recover. The cow was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cenex gas stations across Minnesota will be better able to offer E-15 fuel to customers, thanks to the co-op's new program which will pay for a substantial part of installing fuel storage tanks to hold the higher ethanol blend. Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis says it will improve the environment and increase the nation's energy and national security, while saving money at the pump. Cenex was among the first in the country to offer higher ethanol blends under its brand, and E15 is now available at more than 90 Cenex stations in Minnesota and 13 other states.
Online reselling giant eBay has revealed the most popular items purchased in every state, and it may not be much of surprise that in a place with punishing winters, Minnesotans tend to buy skin care products more than anything else. For surrounding states: Cars and car parts are most often purchased in North Dakota and in South Dakota it's tools. Iowans favor small appliances, and sporting and fitness goods are bought most often in Wisconsin.
Hibbing native Bob Dylan will play three nights in downtown Minneapolis this fall. Seventy-two-year-old Dylan is scheduled to perform at the Orpheum Theater on November 4th, 5th and 6th. The first show falls on election night - six years after he played the U of M's Northrup Auditorium on the night Barack Obama was elected president. Dylan used to own the Orpheum Theater with his brother and had a five-night run there in 1992. Tickets for the upcoming shows go on sale September 6th
