LONDON -- The U.S. men's Olympic basketball team cruised past Australia 119-86 last night to advance to the semifinals of the London Games.

LeBron James had Team USA's first triple-double and Timberwolves forward Kevin Love added ten points and 11 rebounds. The Americans will face Argentina in the semis Friday for the third straight Olympics. Team USA beat the Argentines 126-97 Monday in the final game of pool play. Spain will play Russia in the first semifinal meeting on Friday.

The U.S. women's basketball team plays Australia today in the semifinals of the London Olympics (Thurs 11:15am). Team USA routed Canada 91-48 in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Lynx forward Maya Moore had a big game with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. The Australians are seen as the biggest challengers to the Americans with tall post players Lauren Jackson and Liz Cambage. Moore, Seimone Augustus and Hutchinson native Lindsay Whalen are representing Minnesota's WNBA franchise in London.

Brittany Viola advanced to the ten-meter platform diving semifinals at the London Olympics Wednesday. The daughter of former Twins pitcher Frank Viola qualified in 14th and the top 18 moved on. Viola said her nerves were okay in her Olympic debut and "it's so cool to be here." Viola barely missed making the Olympic diving team in 2004 and 2008. Franky V and the Viola family were in the stands at the London Aquatics Centre cheering on Brittany. The semifinals are being held this morning(Thurs).
