AUSTIN, Tex. -- The 14th-ranked University of Minnesota volleyball team pulled off an upset last night. Minnesota snapped a 33-match home-court winning streak of the No. 4 Texas Longhorns with a 3-1 win.

Minnesota's Katherine Harms of Albertville, Minn. paced the Golden Gophers with 24 kills and 13 digs. In fact, the Texas loss was only their third home loss since 2007. The Gophers and Longhorns play again tonight in Austin at 6:30 p.m.

The defending WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx are back in action tonight hosting the team they beat in last year's championship series. The Atlanta Dream visit the Target Center for a 7 p.m. game The Dream's Lindsay Harding shot 7-of-15 from the field for 20 points to help her club defeat the Indiana Fever 71-64 on Wednesday in Atlanta. Minnesota is coming off of a Tuesday night home win over Los Angeles.

The Chicago Bulls and head coach Tom Thibodeau have renewed contract talks. ESPNChicago.com reports the Bulls picked up his options for this coming year but nothing has sparked a long term deal. Thibodeau is the fastest head coach to 100 NBA wins. He has guided the Bulls to back-to-back 50-win seasons and has led the league in victories the first two years at the helm of Chicago. He was once a Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach.

The Minnesota Twins were off last night and will begin a season-long, ten-game homestand this evening. Cleveland, Kansas City, and Chicago will each make trips to Target Field for the Twins homestand, which runs from September 7th-16th.

Tonight's another big evening of high school football across Minnesota. Week two of the prep slate shows a handful of good matchups. Defending Class 5A champ Eden Prairie visits Rosemount, while returning Class 4A champ Rocori hosts Alexandria. Last year's Class 3A titlist St. Croix Lutheran entertains Blake this evening, while defending Class 2A champion Caledonia is at St. Charles. The returning Class 1A champ Dawson-Boyd visits Murray County Central, while defending nine-man title team Edgerton/Ellsworth is at Hills-Beaver Creek. All six defending champs won their openers a week ago.

The American Association baseball playoffs continued last night. The first round is a best-of-five format. Here are results from Thursday's slate of games:

Officials say Minnesotans can better track fall color peaks on the DNR's new webpage launched today. Spokeswoman Pat Arndt says it will be updated every Thursday by noon, plus there's a link to naturalist hikes and special events. Ardnt says they also have a mobile page, so people can up-load fall color info. You can find the fall color report at mn.dnr.gov.

NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series is at Richmond International Raceway this weekend for Saturday evening's Federated Auto Parts 400. Just one race remains in the regular season as drivers jockey for position heading into the race for the Chase. Denny Hamlin won last weekend at Atlanta to clinch a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.
