MINNESOTA SPORTS BRIEFS: Gopher hockey teams both winners
DULUTH - The streak is now at 54. The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team shutout Minnesota-Duluth Friday 4-0 at AMSOIL Arena to remain unebeaten 54 games an onward.
MInnesota led 1-0 for two periods on a Sarah Davis goal before score three goals in the third period. Meghan Lorence, Rachel Bonna and Dani Cameranesi also scored goals for the U and Lorence had an assist. Amanda Leveille had 26 saves for the Golden Gophers. Both teams will be in action tonight starting at 6:07 p.m.
The No. 3 ranked University of Minnesota men's hockey teams was 6-3 winner at Bemidji State Friday. Sam Warning's second period goal broke a 2-2 tie and the Gophers, 3-0-0 overall, outscored the Beavers 3-1 in the third period with goals from Hudson Fashcing, Nate Condon and Connor Reilly. Travis Boyd and Ben Marshall also had goals for the U and goalie Adam Wilcox had 18 saves. Warning and Reilly each had assists and Taylor Cammarata had two assist for the U. Both teams square off again tonight at 7:07 p.m.
