MINNESOTA SPORTS BRIEFS: Vikings and Texans in preseason opener
MINNEAPOLIS -- Tonight will be the fourth time the Vikes and Texans have played one another in the preseason.
Minnesota holds a two-games-to-one lead in the short-lived series. The Texans lone preseason victory against Minnesota came last August in a 28-24 win in Houston. Minnesota's exhibition wins over the Texans came in 2009 and 2011. Incidentally, the two clubs have also played three times during the regular season, with the Vikings winning all three contests, including a Minnesota win last fall in Texas.
The Minnesota Twins begin a four game series today against the White Sox - and will get two of them out of the way right away. It'll be a pair of Friday games heading into the weekend starting with a 1:10 first pitch this afternoon followed by a 7:10 first pitch tonight. In game #1, Kyle Gibson will take the mound for Minnesota and Chicago will counter with John Danks. The Twins have taken six of the first eight in the season series. Danks is 0-4 with a 6.00 ERA in his last five outings against the Twins. The afternoon tilt is a make up game from the April 19th tilt that was postponed due to weather.
