MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUND-UP: T-Wolves' Brewer fined five grand by NBA for flopping
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer was fined $5,000 on Monday by the NBA for violating the league's anti-flopping rule for a second time this season.
Brewer was attempting to box out Miami star LeBron James on a shot from the corner in Saturday's loss to the Heat. As James came down with the rebound, Brewer stumbled in the lane, though there appeared to be little contact between the players. Brewer is averaging 14.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to get things head in the right direction with a game in Detroit tonight against the Pistons. The Wolves will get Kevin Love back in the lineup this evening. He missed the previous game to attending his grandmother's funeral. Minnesota is 9-11 on the season and have lost two straight, including a Saturday loss to Miami. Detroit is 10-11 on the year and coming off of a loss to Miami on Sunday. Tonight's game starts at 6:30 p.m.

University of Minnesota standout basketball player Amanda Zahui of Stockholm, Sweden is this week's Big Ten Conference Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week. When the University of Minnesota plays Syracuse in the Texas Bowl in Houston later this month, the Golden Gophers will be wearing special white helmets. One side of the white helmet will feature current "Block M" logo, while the other side will showcase the jersey number of the player wearing the helmet. That part of the design is a throwback to the glory days of Gopher football when Minnesota players wore their numbers on their helmets. The center striping of the white helmet has a maroon brick design, representing the team's slogan of "brick by brick." Head coach Jerry Kill says the players love the design and will feel good about wearing the helmets. The Texas Bowl will be played on Friday, December 27th at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
The Minnesota Vikings have placed tight end Kyle Rudolph on injured reserve with a fractured foot. Rudolph suffered the injury in Minnesota's 27-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on November 3rd. The third-year Notre Dame product recorded 30 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season. Minnesota hosts Philadelphia this Sunday.
