MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUNDUP: Correia's eight shutout innings helps Twins win series
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

Kevin Correia threw seven scoreless innings and home runs by Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer in the fifth pushed the Minnesota Twins to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the finale of a four-game series. Correia (8-8) gave up just five hits while fanning seven and walking one in his outing. It was the 32-year-old right-hander's longest start since pitching seven innings against the White Sox on May 14. Dozier hit a three-run home run while Mauer delivered a two-run shot for the Twins, who took three of the games in this series. White Sox starter Jose Quintana (6-4) gave up both home runs in the loss.

Minnesota rookie defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd had an MRI on Sunday on his left knee and feels confident there's nothing to be worried about. Floyd was hit low from behind in the second quarter of Friday's preseason loss to Houston. He told the AP yesterday that his MRI showd no damage and that he's ready to resume practice whenever Leslie Fraizer and the rest of the Vikings staff are ready for him to get back in pads. Floyd was on the field for Sunday's walk-through and at the afternoon padded practice but did not participate.
