Minnesota power forward Kevin Love scored 30 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to a home court win over New Orleans 88-77 last night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Wolves guard Kevin Martin added 18 points in the win. The Pelicans were playing without Anthony Davis, who was nursing a sore finger. Minnesota did not have the services of center Nikola Pekovic, who has bursitis in his ankle. The win pushed the T'Wolves over the .500 mark for the first time since November. Minnesota is now 23-and-22 on the year. The Wolves host Memphis tomorrow night at the Target Center at 7 p.m.

The Golden Gopher women's basketball team lost at home to Iowa last night 64-56. The visiting Hawkeyes used a 20-to-3 run in the second half to grab control of the game and never look back. Gopher guards Shayne Mullaney of Eden Prairie and Kayla Hirt of Bemidji were the only two scorers in double figures for Minnesota. Mullaney scored 13 and Hirt added ten. Minnesota's Rachel Banham of Lakeville musted only nine points, including only one point in the second half. Minnesota is now 13-and-9 on the year and 2-and-6 in the Big Ten. The Gophers visit Michigan on Saturday.

The Golden Gopher women's team hosted "We Back Pat" night last evening when the Iowa Hawkeyes come to town. Players from both teams wore special t-shirts in pregame warmups to commemorate the "We Back Pat" night. The night paid honor to former Tennessee coach Pat Summit, who suffers from early onset dementia. The purpose is to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and also get people involved with the Pat Summit Foundation. The first 750 fans attending last night's contest received a free t-shirts.

The Minnesota Golden Gopher men's team is off until Saturday when Northwestern comes to the Gopher campus for a Big Ten game at Williams Arena. Minnesota has alternated wins and losses over their last six games following Sunday's 82-78 setback at Nebraska. Minnesota sits at 15-and-6 on the year and 4-and-4 in conference play. Saturday's game tips of at 1 p.m. and there are tickets still remaining for the contest.

The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Matt Guerrier to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The 35-year-old Guerrier made 393 appearances with the Twins between 2004 and 2010 before heading to the Dodgers in 2011. He was traded to the Cubs last July and became a free agent at the end of the season. Guerrier has a career earned run average of 3.51 over 528 career appearances.

The Minnesota Wild are basking in the glow of Tuesday's 4-1 win in Anaheim. The Ducks entered the game with the best record in the NHL and had only lost once all season in regular on their home floor. The Wild received goals from Zach Parise, Jason Pominville, Erik Haula, and Mikael Granlund. Darcey Kuemper earned the win in net. Minnesota visits Denver tonight to take on the Colorado Avalanche for an 8 p.m. game. Colorado is 33-14-and-5 after a Monday win over Dallas, while the Wild sits at 29-20-and-6. With Tuesday night's win, Minnesota moved into seventh-place in the NHL Western Conference standings.
