EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. --  Eden Prairie High School football Mike Grant has been named the NFL High School Coach of the Year. Grant spent the weekend at the Super Bowl as part of the award benefits. He also will receive ten-thousand-dollars and the Eden Prairie football program will receive 15-thousand-dollars. Grant is the son of Vikings legendary coach Bud Grant. Mike Grant has led the Eagles to nine state championships in Minnesota, including the last three.

Former University of Minnesota quarterback Tony Dungy wasn't apart of the seven member class that was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend. Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning coach at Indianapolis, was one of the 15 finalists. Michael Strahan, Andre Reed, Aeneas Williams, Derrick Brooks, Walter Jones, Claude Humphrey and Ray Guy are all headed to Canton as part of the Class of 2014. The players will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio on August 2nd.

The Minnesota Wild begin a brief two-game homestand tomorrow night against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota will then host Nashville on Thursday in its final game before the Olympic break. The Wild have lost two in-a-row and four-of-six overall following Saturday's 4-3 overtime setback in Calgary. They are now 29-21-and-7 on the year. The Bolts are 32-18-and-5.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are back home to take on the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow at the Target Center. Minnesota will then head back out on the road to Oklahoma City on Wednesday and New Orleans on Friday. The T'wolves are 23-and-24 on the season following Saturday's setback in Atlanta. The Lakers have lost six straight to dip to 16-and-31.

Athletes from all over the globe are gathering in Sochi (SO-chee), Russia for the 22nd Olympic Winter Games. Ninety-eight events will take place spanning 15 sport disciplines. The Opening Ceremony is set for Friday, with competition coming to a close on Sunday, February 23rd. The first events actually begin Thursday, with the team men's and pairs figure skating short programs, women's freestyle skiing moguls, and men's and women's snowboard slopestyle qualification. There are 19 native Minnesotans set to take part in the Olympic games.

The family of U-S Olympic hockey player Ryan McDonagh of Arden Hills is heading to Sochi this week for the 2014 Winter Games. His dad, Sean McDonagh, says safety and security is on their mind but he's looking at it as a positive opportunity to watch his son and Team USA go for the gold. McDonagh says his wife didn't have two weeks vacation at this time to go to Russia. Wild players Zach Parise and Ryan Suter asked their families to stay home due to security concerns in Sochi.
