MINNESOTA SPORTS ROUNDUP: Twins use longball again to defeat White Sox
Oswaldo Arcia went 3-for-4 with a home run as the Twins doubled up the White Sox 8-4 at Target Field. Brian Dozier, Clete Thomas and Eduardo Escobar also homered as part of a 15-hit attack as Minnesota swept the three-game series. Scott Diamond gave up four runs in five and a third innings to get credit for his fifth win. The Twins have won four of their last five overall. John Danks was tagged for 12 hits and six runs in five frames to fall to 1-and-4 with the loss. Alexei Ramirez had four hits and Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn clubbed back-to-back home runs in the sixth for Chicago.
The Wolves will host their annual draft party on Thursday, June 27 on the main floor of Target Center. The party, hosted by Wolves broadcasters Dave Benz and Alan Horton, will also feature Wolves Draft Live 2013, a unique, live interactive broadcast. Timberwolves center Greg Stiemsma is scheduled to be at a portion of the party and the Timberwolves Dancers and mascot Crunch will also be in attendance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the draft starting at 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Mall of America will host the 16th annual Midwest Regional Yo-Yo Championships on Sunday, June 23 where yo-yo enthusiasts from eight Midwestern states will compete to see if their caliber of tricks will land them a spot at the National Championships in Chico, CA. The Midwest Regional Yo-Yo Championship is one of nine regional contests of the National Yo-Yo League. The contest is divided into categories for all levels of experience from amateur to professional. Players can enter the freestyle division, from Junior 1A up to 5A Freestyle, or the ladder sport competition.
