Minnesota Wild down Detroit by 4-2 score
DETROIT - Devin Setoguchi netted a pair of goals and Niklas Backstrom stopped 36 pucks as the Minnesota Wild downed Detroit, 4-2, at Joe Louis Arena.
Mikko Koivu and Kyle Brodziak also tallied and Pierre-Marc Bouchard added two assists for the Wild, who have won four in a row and six of their last seven.
Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller supplied the offense for the Red Wings, who have lost four of six after their two-game win streak was halted. Jimmy Howard allowed all four goals on just 19 shots in defeat.
Dan Boyle scored the winner in the shootout as the San Jose Sharks took a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. With the final shot, Boyle dipped his shoulder then skated to the right before stuffing the puck past a sprawled-out Devan Dubnyk for the win. Logan Couture had two goals while Tommy Wingels also scored for the Sharks, who had dropped six of seven coming in. Antti Neimi posted 24 saves in the win. The Sharks will be in St. Paul on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. face-off against the Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
