Minnesota woman arrested in Dunn County for obstructing an officer

MENOMONIE - A Minnesota woman was arrested Wednesday, May 29 in Dunn County for obstructing an officer, as she allegedly claimed to be held against her will.

Sheriff Dennis Smith reports around 1:30 p.m., their E-911 Center received a report from a woman, stating her daughter was being held against her will, via text messaging. After originally believing this happened in Menomonie, it was later determined the woman was in northwest Dunn County. Contact was made with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation as a result.

A number of text messages continued to be sent saying the daughter was being held by a large man at a house and he was armed with a gun and a knife. It was also stated two young children were with her. Based on this information, the Eau Claire County SWAT Team was requested.

At about 6 p.m., a second residence was checked in Wheeler and she was not located there. A deputy was in the area and observed someone who fit the description of the alleged victim, who admitted sending the false text messages to her mother and law enforcement. She was identified as Michelle Renee Lien, 27, who was believed to have been staying in Menomonie, and visiting someone in Wheeler.

Smith also said a Holly Berg out of Boyceville, was also arrested for obstructing an officer.

More information will be released Thursday as well.
