Mondovi soldier killed in Iraq
A Wisconsin soldier is one of two killed in an insurgent attack in Iraq. Sgt. Earl Werner is a native of Mondovi.
He was serving his third deployment with the Oregon Army National Guard when he was killed.
The other soldier was a private from Monmouth, Ore.
Werner had a Bronze Star from a previous tour of duty in that country.
He also had received two Army Commendation Medals and the Combat Action Badge. Werner is survived by a wife and a son who live in Washington state.
