Money a factor for jail group

A lot of pieces to the puzzle for the Pierce County Jail Ad Hoc Committee got straightened out Thursday during its three-and-a-half-hour meeting.

Working with consultant Marvin Wilson, the committee narrowed down its recommendations to three with the biggest piece--cost--the only one left to figure out.

The three options are:

--A brand-new Justice Center. The county has already received a cost estimate for one.

--Build new and remodel.

--Retrofit the current jail and add space by staying within county property.

A new Justice Center has been explained in depth already. The other two scenarios were hatched out more Thursday.
