Nettie Langager, 84

Nettie Vera (Hrichena) Langager, 84, of Red Wing, Minn., died at her home Wednesday, June 17, 2009. She was born February 5, 1925, in Max, N.D., the daughter of Ehnat and Vera (Kabanuk) Hrichena, sincere Christians who raised their family on a farm near Sawyer, N.D.  She attended school until 8th grade and was a graduate of a non-denominational Bible school in Minot, N.D. She married Eldor Langager of Epping, N.D., on June 8, 1947.  He was an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  Together, they ministered for almost 50 years in the following Covenant churches: Dale, Minn., Ceresco, Neb., Thief River Falls, Minn., Traverse City, Mich., Braham, Minn., Owatonna, Minn., Ellsworth (Zion), Wis., Eau Claire, Wis., and Stockholm (Calvary) Wis.  She loved being a pastor's wife and was always actively involved with the Women's ministry in their churches. They moved to Red Wing, Minn., in 1986 where they enjoyed their retirement years.  They moved to Potter Ridge Assisted Living in Red Wing, July 2006.  She was a devoted care giver to her husband for his last 14 years.  Eldor passed away November 2007.  She had a wonderful soprano voice and used her talent of music daily, singing hymns of praise to God.  She was a gifted soloist and also enjoyed singing in church choirs.  She was a great cook and loved to entertain people in their home. She cherished spending time with her family and many friends.  She was a member of the First Covenant Church of Red Wing. 

Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Sherill) of Waseca, Minn., Rev. Nathan (Karen) of Escanaba, Mich.; one daughter, Margaret (Dean) Anderson of Bay City, Wis.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldor, parents and her brother and sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the First Covenant Church of Red Wing with the Rev. Timothy Anderson officiating.  Pallbearers and honorary pall bearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery, Red Wing.  Visitation was to be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the church and for one hour before the service on Wednesday.  Cards or memorials rather than flowers are preferred.
