New face, same place is East Ellsworth bar's fate
Don't expect a lot of changes at Danny Dunn's now that the East Ellsworth tavern has switched management.
The new owner is already a familiar face behind the bar. And Kristia Melstrom doesn't plan to make the establishment much different.
"I'll probably update the interior eventually," Melstrom said Wednesday.
Otherwise, she's retaining the name, the offerings to customers and the Green Bay Packers theme, she said. The premises with the green-and-gold exterior will still host drink specials on Packer football game days later this year. Moreover, the former owner, for whom the place is named, will continue on staff, along with a couple of other bartenders.
"Our most popular drinks are Bud Lite and Captain Morgan's," she said, noting the outlet's suppliers are mainly from the Menomonie-Chippewa Falls area. An arrangement with the Broadway Café across-the-street has been renewed for bar patrons to get take-out food orders from there, she added.
Successful past features will return, too, she said. Discounts on pull tabs are in the works and Happy Hour is slated from 4 to 6 p.m. seven days a week. The bar's annual golf tournament is set for July 28 at 2 p.m. at the local country club. The business will field a team for the local American Cancer Society's local fundraiser walk this month.
"We'll be holding a grand opening in August," she said, indicating the regular hours are 10 a.m. to closing, which is 2 a.m. weekdays and 2:30 a.m. weekends.
