The new Highway 61 bridge in Hastings was dedicated at a ceremony here Friday morning.

All four lanes of the new bridge opened for traffic one week ago. Several dignitaries delivered speeches at City Hall during the dedication, including U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Representative John Kline, State Senator Katie Sieben and State Representative Denny McNamara. Hastings Mayor Paul Hicks delivered a speech, as did county commissioner Mike Slavik and representatives from the contractors and MnDOT.

A ribbon cutting was then held at the bridge.

The murals under the bridge in downtown were also unveiled to the public.
