New provider joins Mayo Clinic Health System in Ellsworth

RED WING, Minn. —A new physician with origins in the region has joined the team of family medicine providers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Ellsworth. Carrie Kern, D.O. began seeing patients in late October. 

Dr. Kern received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She went to medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota – St. Joseph’s Hospital Family Medicine.

Dr. Kern will offer pre-natal care to female patients in Ellsworth and follow them through delivery at the hospital in Red Wing. Her interests include women’s and adolescent health and preventive medicine.

“I’m very excited to see patients in Ellsworth,” says Kern. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to help patients in this great community.”

Born and raised in Red Wing, Minn., Dr. Kern currently lives there with her husband and 8-month-old daughter. Her hobbies include running, cycling and cross-country skiing.
