No. 4 Golden Gophers rout BC 8-1, win Mariucci Classic

MINNEAPOLIS - The fourth-ranked University of Minnesota men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead, eventually led 7-0 in the third, and went on to an 8-1 dominating win over top-ranked Boston College last night at Mariucci Arena.

Senior Nick Bjustad of Blaine scored a pair of goals for Minnesota as they won the championship game of the Mariucci Classic. Bjugstad had two assists as did Erik Haula. Zach Budish had three assists.

Minnesota only outshot BC 36-33 but Adam Wilcox made 32 saves for the Golden Gophers.

The Gophers are now 13-3-3 on the season.
