No finals for Pirates as Sparta beats Prescott 4-1

OSCEOLA - The Prescott Pirates amateur baseball team was denied a second straight trip to the Wisconsin Baseball Association State Tournament finals as they lost to Sparta Saturday afternoon 4-1 at Oakey Park.

After an 0-3 start Prescott concludes its season with a 22-8 record.

Tomorrow's state finals pits Sparta vs. Brill. The Millers downed defending state champions Menomonie 7-2 in the other semifinal. Brill had beaten Chaseburg-Coon Valley earlier in the day in the quarterfinals 7-1. Menomonie won its first game 6-3 this morning over the Haguen Knights.
