No one injured when train derails in Maiden Rock
No one was injured when a train derailed Sunday night in Maiden Rock.
Around 12 p.m., the Pierce County Sheriff's Department was notified by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) there had been a train derailment in Maiden Rock. The dispatch center was advised it occurred at the Chester Street crossing in the Village of Maiden Rock.
Deputy Andy Thoms said in a news release, information from BNSF employees on scene indicated a set of cars derailed when they were in the process of moving them. The cars contained sand and no hazardous chemicals were involved.
The Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Ellsworth Fire, Maiden Rock and Ellsworth Ambulance Services.
