Nugget Lake cabins open
PLUM CITY -- As of Monday, the three cabins at Pierce County's Nugget Lake Park are ready to rent to campers.
Park Superintendent Scott Schoepp said the cabins have passed inspection and certificates of occupancy have been issued.
The cabins, only a few years old, were closed a year ago, but earlier this summer an understanding was reached with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce about the work needed to bring the cabins into line with Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code.
Rental cost is $45 per night for each cabin. Each has a futon and four bunk beds, along with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and toaster, said Schoepp.
The cabins may be reserved by calling 715.639.5611. Information about the park and reservation policies is available by going to the county Web site, www.co.pierce.wi.us, and clicking on "Nugget Lake County Park."
The park, on the eastern side of the county near Plum City, also has a 55-site campground with electrical hook-ups on 42 sites, hiking and cross country skiing trails, a swimming beach, boat ramp, and dock and picnic area.
