The Obit Bandit steals from homes of the deceased in Wisconsin
WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Wisconsin Rapids police say 32-year old Seth R. Furgasson used newspaper obituary listings to find empty homes to burglarize.
Police say they found someone had made several calls to a residence in the town of Howard, apparently to make sure no one was home - then broke in to steal possessions.
They say that crime was similar to a string of burglaries in Shawano, Trempealeau, Portage and Dunn counties. When police served a search warrant on Furgasson's home, they found several items which had been stolen from homes. Furgasson and 24-year old Cassandra Miller were arrested. He's being held in the Chippewa County Jail. He has served time in the past on burglary convictions.
