A while back, I watched history being made as President Obama signed into law the new health care bill.  I wish they would have explained about all those pens he used.  Does everyone else know that except me?  What is the purpose?

But such a controversy over the bill!  Some people are mad, some are glad.  So many questions, so much wrangling.

I am such a "Pollyanna," always hoping things will turn out right.   I have read on the internet as much as I can about this new thing.  Some I understand, some I don't.

I really pray that it will result in people having health insurance who haven't been able to afford it until now.

And that people won't be restricted because of pre-existing illnesses. Like diabetes.  I look back and remember how scary it was for us, when Husband had his first heart attack, and then diabetes.  He could not get health insurance.   The medical bills were piling up. We were pretty desperate.

Just by chance, he was able to get help through the Veterans Administration.  Back then, we had applied for a home owner's loan, to change our mortgage on the farm.  And Loren Sather, bless his heart forever, wondered why Husband wasn't availing himself of the VA health care, since he had service connected injuries.  He had been awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for being wounded in battle.  So Loren drove us up there and got Husband's paper work going.

From that day, his care was covered by the Veterans Administration (with substantial co-pays).  It was such a God send for us.

I wonder, if over the years, that Veterans' help has dwindled?  I surely hope not.

Veterans deserve every bit of help that is available to them.

In my heart, I really believe that President Obama is a caring person, really wanting to help those less fortunate.  Some say he is a Muslim and wants to take over the world.  He is a Christian, so I don't believe that.

As I said before, I am such an optimist; I surely hope I won't have to eat my words some day!  But he needs our prayers.  Just like George Bush did!  And all the presidents who came before and will come later.  Because, there is Someone bigger than you or I! Bigger than the President. Bigger than all the rulers in the world.

I'll probably get hate mail.  Ask me if I care.

The Facebook rumor that President Obama has cancelled the National Day of Prayer is false.  He only cancelled the Ecumenical Prayer Service at the White House in May this year. Our National Day of Prayer continues as usual. We should do a little investigating before jumping on the wagon.
