Packers take a pass on Wahle
The Green Bay Packers did not give a contract offer to former Green Bay guard Mike Wahle before he signed a free-agent contract with Seattle this month.
Media reports said the Packers were looking at a shorter contract than the five-year deal Wahle signed with the Seahawks.
It's for $20 million, but only $5.5 million is guaranteed.
It's apparently a sticky subject with Packers' Head Coach Mike McCarthy, who held his tongue at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
He said Wahle could still play and he was supposed to go to Green Bay for a visit.
"That's how it goes," said McCarthy.
Packers' General Manager Ted Thompson said he never got to talk about money with the Wahle, 31, who made the Pro Bowl twice in Carolina before the Panthers cut him a few weeks ago for salary cap purposes.
