Panther softball gets big win over Somerset, unbeaten B-W next


Ellsworth High School's softball team played itself into the mix for the Middle Border Conference title with a 7-3 over Somerset at home Monday.


The Panther got the initial jump on Somerset by taking a 5-0 lead after three innings. They added two more runs in the fourth and held on to their lead.

EHS' Kayla Christopherson was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Becca Chollett went 2-for-3, stole three bases and knocked in a run. Halle Hatch struck out six in seven innings while allowing two earned runs on seven hits.

Ellsworth's next MBC contest is against undefeated Baldwin-Woodville Friday at Baldwin. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
